Cherokee Red Clover Seed - Cherokee Red Clover is a variety developed in Florida back in the mid 90’s. Depending on where it is being grown, it has been used as an annual (south Georgia and Florida) and a short lived perennial (upper southeast and midwest). As far as an annual goes, Mammoth, or Dixie Crimson are about as productive. Cherokee was an early producing variety. If it’s being used as a short term, annual crop, then I would look at Mammoth, Dixie Crimson, or another less expensive variety. If it is going to be a part of a permanent pasture (2-3 years) and planted further north, I would recommend the Starfire II or Kenland. Starfire II is an improved variety over the original Starfire that was introduced about 5 years ago. Starfire II is more tolerant of southern weather. Kenland is an old variety that was developed in Kentucky.
