Hancock's Centipede Lawn Grass Seed - Raw - 25 lb. bag

$362.50

Hancock's Centipede Lawn Grass Seed - Our Centipede Lawn Grass Seed is premium non-coated, raw Centipede Grass Seed.  Centipede grass seed produces a premium lawn grass with little homeowner effort.  Centipede is very popular for lawn applications due to its low growing or crawling characteristics that decrease mowing requirements.  Centipede grass varieties require little to no chemical treatments growing well in poor soils, full sun or partial shade with little maintenance or fertilization.

Planting Centipede Lawns:

Plant any time from March through July for best results. Plant one pound (16 oz.) Centipede per 2,000 to 4,000 square feet of lawn. Planting more seed will result in faster coverage.

  1. Prepare the seedbed by tilling the soil. Remove existing grass & debris. Apply 10-15 lbs. of a complete fertilizer per 1,000 sq. ft. DO NOT USE A WEED AND FEED FERTILIZER PRODUCT

  2. Distribute seed evenly over soil surface using a Cyclone-type spreader.  Mix with sand for best results and even distribution.

  3. Plant by raking the seed into the soil to a depth of not more than 1-4 inch. Keep the seedbed constantly moist for two to three weeks after planting. Seed should germinate in 2 to 3 weeks.

  4. Maintain your lawn by mowing at 1 1/2 to 2 inch height. Cut no more than 1/3 of the leaf off at one mowing. Use sharp mower blades. After germination, water only as needed.

Fertilizing Centipede Lawns
Fertilizer should be applied to centipede grass in 1 to 3 applications from spring greenup through fall. Do not apply nitrogen too early in the growing season, particularly in north Florida, or subsequent frosts may damage the grass. Likewise, don't fertilize too late in the year, as this can slow regrowth the following spring. If applying water-soluble forms at the lower application rate, it will take more applications to apply the total amount of fertilizer needed for the year than if applying a slow-release fertilizer form.
