Riviera Bermuda Grass Seed - 2 lb.

$49.95

Riviera Bermuda Grass Seed is used for lawn grass and turf grass applications in the warm season and transition zone area. Riviera Bermuda Grass seed provides an exceptional lawn grass with turf quality characteristics. Riviera Bermuda grass is one of the highest quality bermuda grass seed varieties available in seeded form.  Riviera Bermuda is designed for premium turf grass applications such as golf course tees, fairways and greens.  Riviera Bermuda grass is a great choice for premium home lawn applications.  Riviera Bermuda grass has adequate resistance or tolerance to the major pests of bermudagrass, particularly in the U.S. transition zone.  Riviera Bermuda is sufficiently cold hardy to be used in parts of the U. S. transition zone between warm-season and cool-season turf grasses with minimal risk.

Riviera Bermuda Seed Rate and Application:

New Turf Applications
: 2 - 3 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. (1 to 1.5 kg per 100 sq. meters)

Riviera Bermuda grass seed should be planted in areas of full sunlight when soil temperatures reach a consistent 65°F (18°C) and are on the rise. Plant in a well-prepared firm seedbed. Cover seed with no more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) of soil. Maintain adequate soil moisture around seed using frequent but light irrigation for optimum germination. Seedlings should emerge in 10 to 14 days. As seedlings develop, decrease frequency of irrigation but increase the amount of water applied. As turf matures, follow recommended turf watering guidelines for your growing region.

Riviera Bermuda Maintenance:

Riviera can be maintained at mowing heights from 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) to 2 inches (5 cm). Applying 3 to 5 pounds of nitrogen per 1000 sq. ft. (1.5 to 2.5 kg per 100 square meters) per growing season is adequate. Do not remove over 1/3 of the leaf blade per mowing for healthy turf. More frequent mowing at shorter heights will result in a finer, more dense turf.

Dormant bermudagrass may be overseeded for year round color, but is not generally recommended on turf less than 6 to 8 months old. Immature turf may be damaged by the vertical cutting and scalping process, leaving it unable to compete with the overseeded species during the spring transition.

The Oklahoma State University Turfgrass Development Team is led by Drs. Charles Taliaferro, Dennis Martin and Jeff Anderson. Riviera is a synthetic variety derived from the intercrossing of three clonal parent plants selected on the basis of turf quality and transition zone adaptation. Riviera was licensed exclusively to Johnston Seed Company for seed production, marketing and distribution.

Area of Adaptation:

Superior performance in the 1997-2001 NTEP trials indicates Riviera is well adapted to the transition zone as well as all regions where bermudagrass is currently grown.
