Penn A-1 Bentgrass Seed - 25. lb. Pail

$350.00

Penn A-1 Bentgrass Seed - Penn A-1 Bentgrass has a very dark green coloration, fine leaf texture, tremendous heat and cold tolerance, very high density and superior disease resistance. It has very good winter color and spring green-up. It provides a superb putting surface and will provide an excellent playing surface on tees and fairways, too.

Dr. Joe Duich developed these new Penn bentgrasses from plant selections that exhibit dense, upright growth, fine leaf texture and the ability to tolerate low cutting heights as well as high heat and humidity. Today, the A’s and G’s are recognized as some of the finest bentgrasses ever produced for putting greens. The A’s and G’s provide a consistent, virtually grainless putting surface that adapts easily to raising and lowering of cutting heights, allowing superintendents to manage green speeds without worries. Dense-tillered and upright-growing, the A’s and G’s need less fertilizer, less water and less fungicide applications. Thanks to their deep roots, they more effectively tolerate low mowing, heat, humidity, cold, disease and wear.

Penn A-1 Bentgrass is Free of Poa annua, Poa trivialis, and all other noxious and objectionable weed seeds.

Recommended seeding rate: 6-7.5 g/m2 for new seedings and 0.5-1.25 g/m2 for interseeding. It has proven adaptable to various growing conditions and management practices. There is University data showing that Penn A-1 is able to compete against weeds such as Poa annua with great success. Penn A-1Bentgrass prefers to be kept on the dry and lean side, reducing maintenance expenses.
